BOOMA YOUNG EXITS Big League

Hoima Municipality based Boma Young Football Club has officially pulled out of the FUFA Big League due to financial constraints. The development was confirmed by the club director cum head coach Khawa Kajabago. In an exclusive interview with Endiiro Sports on Tuesday, Kajabago, a businessman cited limited finance resources for the decision to pull out of Uganda’s second tier league. I have painfully made the decision to pull out of the FUFA Big League because there is no money to run the club for the remainder of the season. There is no sponsor as I have always sacrificed my meager personal resources to fund the club singlehandedly Kajabago has since communicated his decision to pull out of the league to the FUFA Competitions Department headed by Ali Mwebe. As a club, we have already written to FUFA as we prepare to play in the regional league next season. Boma Young had already failed to travel for two FUFA organized competitions; the first was the away trip to Water in the Uganda Cup and the second, away to Masaka Recreational Stadium where they were supposed to play Synergy. The decision to pull out means that clubs, such as Synergy, that had already played Boma Young and won will be deducted three points and goals alike. Clubs like Airtel Kitara and Water that had drawn with Boma will only have a point deducted. In the second round, Boma Young had only registered one victory – against Kireka United. Meanwhile, fixtures for the rest of the clubs that were due to play Boma have been scrapped off the schedule. Boma Young’s pulling out implies that they have been automatically relegated. Three other clubs shall be relegated by the end of the season in May. As the final bend of the FUFA Big League comes by, clubs are gearing for maximum points in a bid to ensure promotion to the Uganda Premier League where only three teams shall make the cut as the rest are desperately fighting to avoid the drop zone. The top club per group (Rwenzori and Elgon) will automatically qualify for the top division. The other club will be determined via a promotional playoff.
